A better way to understand your school experience
Educity Open is a free self-serve survey platform that lets you measure how pupils, parents and staff experience your school.
You run the surveys yourself through Educity. We provide the questions, the measurement framework, the analysis and the reporting, so you don’t have to design your own questionnaire or work out what to do with a spreadsheet of responses afterwards.
Your school receives three survey credits each academic year. That gives you enough to run Pupil Voice, Parent & Carer Voice and Staff Voice once each, with your online results and PDF reports included.
Everything you need to run it yourself
What you get with Educity Open
Three survey credits each academic year. Use them to run Pupil Voice, Parent Voice and Staff Voice once each, or use the surveys separately.
Set everything up yourself through the Educity platform. We provide the survey framework, the questions, the analysis and the final reporting. When your survey closes, explore your results online and download your report as a PDF.
It’s designed to give you the benefits of a carefully structured engagement exercise without needing to commission a bespoke project every time you want to listen to your school community.
Educity Open is free to use
You can use Educity Open without paying a platform fee. Your school receives three survey credits each academic year, giving you enough to run Pupil Voice, Parent Voice and Staff Voice once each. Your online results and PDF reports are included.
We want the core Educity experience to be easy for schools to try and useful enough to stand on its own. As Educity develops into a wider platform, the Open offer may evolve too. If that happens, we’ll be clear about any change before it affects your school. Educity Open isn’t designed as an unlimited free survey builder. The three-credit allowance gives you meaningful access to the complete core Educity experience while allowing us to operate the platform sustainably.
For now, you can create your account, set up your school and run your Educity Open surveys for free.
Built on a framework, not a collection of questions
Educity Open is built on the Educity Lens, our structured framework for understanding educational experience.
We developed the Lens first because you need to know what you’re trying to understand before you can decide what questions to ask. It gives Educity a clear structure across the different parts of school experience and lets your results move from the broad picture into more useful detail.
Each part of the survey has a defined place within that framework. We also use controlled companion questions rather than relying on a single statement to carry an entire idea. The result is deliberately different from opening a generic survey tool and choosing a collection of questions that sound sensible.
You don’t need to become an expert in the methodology to use Educity. The point of our having done that work already is so you can trust there’s a coherent model behind the questions and reports you receive.
Three voices. A fuller picture.
You can run any of the three separately, but using them together gives you a richer picture. Because all three Voices are built around the same underlying framework, you can see where adults broadly recognise the experience pupils describe and where their perceptions differ.
Pupil
Voice
lets pupils describe their own experience directly. They’re the people living that experience every day, so their results remain at the centre of Educity.
Parent
Voice
lets families tell you what they see through the experience of their child. That gives you another perspective on the same school without pretending parents can know everything pupils experience directly.
Staff
Voice
adds the view of the people working with pupils across lessons, relationships and daily school life.
Set it up, share it and let
Educity do the rest
Start by creating your campaign and choosing which Voices you want to run.
You can set different dates for pupils, parents and carers, and staff, and organise distribution around relevant groups within your school. For example, you might want to understand year groups and SEN separately.
Once you activate a Voice, Educity creates the cohorts and survey links are generated at the distribution stage. You share those through the channels you already use.
Respondents don’t need to create an account. They follow the link and complete the survey on their phone, tablet or computer.
While the survey is open, you can see how participation is progressing. When the survey closes, Educity fixes the final dataset and produces the results.
A report designed to help you understand what you heard
Your Educity report starts with the overall picture and lets you explore the different parts of the Educity Lens underneath it.
You can see where experience appears stronger, where something deserves a closer look and how different parts of the school compare.
If you’ve run more than one Voice, you can also compare pupil experience with parent and staff perceptions. That can show you where the different groups broadly agree and where adults see school differently from the pupils experiencing it.
Where there isn’t enough information to report something properly, Educity tells you that rather than manufacturing a score.
Your report remains available online and can be downloaded as a PDF, giving you something you can use with your wider team.
Designed so people can
trust the process
Educity Voice is designed so that individual respondents can’t be identified from the responses your school receives. Respondents don’t create individual accounts, and Educity doesn’t give your school access to raw response records that could be traced back to a particular person. Results are only shown in aggregated form, and small groups are suppressed where reporting them could make identification easier.
Educity Open uses closed questions rather than free text, which reduces the risk of respondents inadvertently identifying themselves or other people in their answers.
Those choices sometimes mean Educity gives you less data than a completely open survey tool could. That’s intentional. We’d rather give you information you can use responsibly, and give respondents a process they can trust.
What might Educity help you see?
The value of Educity isn’t that it produces another headline number. It’s that it can reveal patterns that are difficult to see from your other school data.
- You might discover that pupils feel academically challenged but don’t feel confident asking for help.
- You might find that parents have a much more positive view of belonging than pupils themselves.
- You might find that an area you’ve been worrying about is actually experienced much more positively than you expected, or that something you’ve been working hard on is being experienced positively.
Educity won’t automatically tell you why any of those patterns exist or prescribe the intervention you should make next. You know your school and its context. Educity gives you another piece of evidence to bring to that judgement.
Ready to hear what your school is telling you?
You don’t need to design a survey, commission a project or wait for us to run it for you. You can create your account, set up your school and begin preparing your first campaign yourself.
